Sun Metalon Closes Series A Second Funding Round to Advance Decarbonization in the Metal Industry
SUN METALON Inc., a pioneer in metal industry decarbonization, today announced the successful closing of its Series A second funding round. This follows the first closing announced last year, bringing in a private placement of $9.1 million from investors including Nippon Steel Corporation, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Airbus Ventures, and the Shimadzu Future Innovation Fund (managed by Global Brain Corporation).
With the completion of this round, Sun Metalon’s total capital raised now stands at $39.8 million, including loan facilities.
Founded in 2021, Sun Metalon is a technology company headquartered in the United States with operations in Japan. The company is on a mission to reimagine metal recycling with a planet-positive approach – helping usher in a new age of metal manufacturing that will deliver local, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions.
“Our patented heating technology tackles both environmental and economic challenges by drastically reducing CO₂ emissions and enabling efficient metal recycling, while recovering valuable metal resources and reducing operational costs,” said Kazuhiko Nishioka, CEO of Sun Metalon.
The newly raised capital will be used to expand operations in both the U.S. and Japan, accelerating the decarbonization of the metal industry and advancing the realization of a recycling-oriented global society.
Nishioka added: “We are deeply grateful to everyone who believed in Sun Metalon’s vision and supported us in this funding round. This investment enables us to continue evolving our technology and delivering impactful solutions to a broader audience. I am especially honored to work alongside strategic partners such as Nippon Steel Corporation, from whom I have gained invaluable experience and support over the years, as we build the future together.”

About SUN METALON Inc.
For too long, metal recycling has been both financially and environmentally costly—up to 20% of all metal is lost during manufacturing. Because recycling that scrap is so expensive, much of it ends up in landfills. At Sun Metalon, we are changing that. Our zero-CO₂ technology transforms contaminated, low-value swarf into high-value metal—directly on-site. We’re not making new metal—we’re making metal new.
